Sampah dengan berbagai macam bentuk telah menimbulkan banyak masalah yang berdampak pada kehidupan masyarakat. Sains dan teknologi berperan menemukan solusi untuk mengatasi masalah sampah tersebut. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi
masalah sampah adalah dengan memusnahkannya menggunakan api tanpa menimbulkan asap. Teknologi yang digunakan untuk membakar sampah tanpa menimbulkan asap ini berhasil dibuat oleh sekelompok mahasiswa IT PLN yang tergabung dalam suatu tim untuk kegiatan Program Kreatifitas Mahasiswa (PKM) tahun 2023 untuk Skim PKM Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat.
Alat pemusnah sampah karya tim PKM ITPLN tersebut berfungsi untuk memusnahkan berbagai macam jenis sampah baik organik maupun non organik, dengan sistem burning menggunakan bahan bakar oli bekas dan air. Proses pemusnahan sampah dengan alat ini , tidak menghasilkan asap. Ini juga merupakan salah satu karya inovasi teknologi yang bertujuan untuk mendukung program pemerintah dalam mencapai net zero emission. Dengan cara ini, keseimbangan lingkungan tetap terjaga tanpa merusak ekosistem yang selama ini menunjang keberlangsungan hidup manusia.
