Kementerian ESDM Dadan Kusdiana menyampaikan, Indonesia punya potensi besar dalam pengembangan energi terbarukan, khususnya untuk sektor pembangkit listrik. Menurut dia, dalam mengurangi penggunaan emisi menjadi tantangan dalam melawan isu iklim global, panas bumi menjadi salah satu cara dalam mengurangi ketergantungan negara pada bahan bakar fosil. “Indonesia menjadi negara dengan kapasitas terpasang PLTP terbesar kedua di dunia, dan akan menjadi nomor satu dalam beberapa tahun ke depan,” ujar Dadan.
Ketua Umum API Prijandaru Effendi mengatakan, pemangku kepentingan panas bumi telahberkolaborasi memulai inisiatif baru untuk mencari terobosan, gagasan
agar energi panas bumi dapat berperan serta menjadi andalan dalam transisi energi. Pengembangan potensi panas bumi di Indonesia harus terus ditingkatkan dalam berbagai bentuk. Mulai dari ekspansi lapangan eksisting, kegiatan eksplorasi pada area-area baru dan pemanfaatan panas bumi beyond energy.
